Hai to Digi Locker : How Digital Driving can make driving with soft copies

Road Transport Ministry approves Digi Locker. Soon no  need to carry original copies of all vehicle papers like driving licence, vehicle registration certificate, insurance, pollution certificate or the permits issued to commercial vehicles. As per the  IT Act 2000, digital driving license and vehicle's RC papers stored in Digi Lockers are now legally recognized and it  is valid under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.

As per the "The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) the states can accept Driving Licence, Registration Certificate or other documents in 'electronic form' presented through Digi Locker . The government has made it very clear to every State to accept Digital License and Vehicle papers on Digi Locker and mParivahan. 

The person  has to store all the documents of the vehicle  on the government's cloud-based service DigiLocker and when he/she is asked, then they can simply display the stored certificates on a smartphone or any other digital devices. With other departments  also these digital copies can be  shared as identity and address proof. 

If asked,  the owner/driver has to produce the documents such as  licence or certificate of registration to the authority according to  the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.
